Brown Belt Weekend

In case you got all fired up about Jujitsu over regional convention and are thirsty for more, I just want to inform you all a little about Brown Belt Weekend this year, Sept 20-21 in Chico, CA. It is open to all brown belts, with Shinnin being limited to Ikkyu+ or by sensei and instructor permission. This is a great way to prepare for your black belt, and it usually has top notch instructors. This is your chance to work on your stuff and scope out ukes for your exam.

You can find out more about this weekend at http://www.nibukikan.org

This is one of those things that I REALLY wish I'd known about when preparing for my shodan. I know that most of you are still sankyu/nikkyu, but you'll just be that much better if you get that many more brown belt weekends under your belt. And, yes, I know there's a pun there. While teaching is an essential part of your development, so is intense mat time with your peers.

Brown Belt Weekend

Realized that I will not be able to attend. Between not having time or money, my wife will be gone that weekend as well. Next time maybe.
